Healthy Sweet Warm Peach Dessert

This special recipe comes from my beautiful Mother-in-Law. This incredibly strong woman has been eating healthy before it was a trend and you can tell. She has aged incredibly! I am determined to learn all her secrets. When I first met Ben 15 years ago, she taught me how to make my own Kefir, Kombucha and Matcha Latte before it was a fad. I trust everything she shares about health and wellness. She knows the benefits of every root, herb, weed, and flower. She has helped me learn so much and I value every recipe she shares as I know it’s going to be beneficial and healthy for my boys.

This summer I was looking for a sweet but gluten-free dessert to share with friends after hosting dinner. Of course, she came up with a wonderful idea that turned out to be a huge hit with everyone, including the kids.

Peaches are in season and so it was the perfect time to grab some sweet peaches and give her idea a go. These delicious warm peaches are sure to be a hit. You can add less honey if you don’t want them to be too sweet! I love honey and we are so lucky we can use my Mother-in-laws homemade honey from her bees. The benefits of local raw honey are amazing, so I don’t mind the extra sweetness, neither do my boys!

You can make as many peaches as you like. I usually make one peach per person. So usually for my little family, I will need five peachers to make five servings. When you boil the peaches make sure to wait till the water is boiling and only leave them in there for 2 min. Let them cool. I sometimes will run them under cool water if I am a little rushed. The skin will easily peel off or you can use a paring knife to help. I usually can get them off using my hands.

Ingredients:

  1. 5 peaches (or more if needed!)
  2. Tablespoon of honey
  3. Tablespoon of Maple Syrup (not necessary but we love the flavor it adds)
  4. Hemp seeds or Granola…whatever topping you like to add on top if you like
  5. Whipped cream

Bing a pot of water to boil (enough to cover the peaches). Please peaches in boiling water for 2 minutes. Remove from boiling water and peel the skin off peaches. Cut the peaches into halves.

Place the peaches in a cast iron (or any pan) flat side down on medium. Add your tablespoon of honey and tablespoon of maple syrup. Let them cool on medium/low for four to five minutes.

Remove, plate, drizzle with the honey and syrup sauce from pan. Sprinkle with granola or hemp seeds. Add a dollop of whip cream. serve and enjoy.

You can put these to cool if you like in the fridge, plated with just the syrup and honey. But I like to serve mine warm especially on a cool summer night or fall evening.

Till the next post,
